SwingDoctors Make Stunning Debut

The SwingDoctors, NYU School of Medicine's very own dance troupe, made a stunning debut in front of a standing room only crowd at the school's biannual CoffeeHouse variety show. Featuring flying arials and fancy kicks, the swingers' performance was the first many in attendance had ever seen. "I thought people only danced like that on TV," remarked one observer.

Led by the internationally aclaimed swingmeister himself, Steven "StevieB" Braunstein, other members of the group included Mike "the Chanman" Chan, Mari Hagiwara, Shirley Park, Eric Strong, and Emily Tan. When asked if this performance was the beginning of a long career for the SwingDoctors, Braunstein gave a sly grin and only said, "I'll have to get back to you on that one."

The CoffeeHouse show was filled with other outstanding performances as well, including singers, pianists, poets, rock bands, and an improve comedy troupe. This winter's show also featured a new bake-off, for all of those amateur chefs out there could display their talent as well. When asked about his feelings regarding the show, guitarist and former coffeehouse MC Henry York told us, "Even despite the obvious absence of the antics of Chris Ip and 3 Other Guys, I think this year's show was great."
